Our Story

We began our adoption journey in the fall of 2011. We felt God's calling to adopt from the small country of Taiwan.  After getting half-way done with all the paperwork, etc. the Taiwan government stepped and stopped all adoptions to "redo" their adoption programs.  We continued to pray for God's leading since then as we have had a lot of setbacks. We decided to call our blog "Defining Hope" because we feel that hope is a ever-evolving definition. It means different things to different people. Our working definition is that we have placed our hope and trust in the Lord and we are willing to follow his lead and his path for this adoption. We know that this path will in no shape or form be a cakewalk. We know that he has a plan and that he has already laid out that plan for us. The following verse is our defining hope.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
We were so excited to get called at midnight, our time, from Taiwan that we had been natched with a newborn baby boy named Liu, Rung-en.  We had the opportunity to change his name and we named him Grayson David and we hope to welcome him home in the next 3-6 months!

The Happy Parents,
Matt and Lindsay

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says...

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Things that you can pray continuously for during this time are

  1. Grayson's health and safety
  2. The orphanage staff
  3. The Taiwan Government officials
  4. The judge overseeing our adoption
  5. Our family
