November 22, 2012 -- Happy Turkey Day!

Happy Thanksgiving Day from Taiwan!
Well, I finally had some real food!!  It was delicious :)  All of the missionaries come to THOGL for Thanksgiving and Christmas and celebrate them together since most of their families are in other countries (mostly US).  I would guess there was about 70-80 people here!  It was nice to be able to carry on a conversation in English!  Everyone was very nice and it was a great meal.
After lunch, we went on a walk around the lake which was fun to get out for a little bit and talk.  We were going to do a "turkey trot" wearing neon leggings, but decided not to at the last minute (Kelsey's idea).
Then Carrissa and I saw a HUGE grasshopper so I took a pic of it. It was about 5 inches long!
Of course there are some adorable pics of Grayons!  He was acting much better today and went right to sleep tonight!  I cannot wait to bring him home to meet everyone!  We love him so much :)

So it's often hard for the Chinese here to understand "american humor".  They are very funny people and act goofy sometimes, but I have to tell a story from today.  Someone in the room was excited about something and said, "yahoo! hot-dog!"....meaning, "that's awesome" ...........to which this cute Chinese lady said, "Did you just call her a "hotdog? That's not very nice, no one wants to be called a hotdog!".......We all busted out laughing and were trying to explain that it really didn't mean she was an actual hotdog.  Anyway, the Chinese lady never caught on so we just laughed about it and moved on :)  Not sure if that story really made sense?  It's much better told in person or I guess you just had to be here.

Since all of the Chinese kids were back from school before supper the "Americans" made chili with corn, fruit, and rolls.  Some of the kids didn't like it, but some of them did.  And we also used silverware which was funny to see the kids "out of their element".........just like I am at every meal here!

THOGL is also building a new facility which will take about a year to complete.  They had their "ground-breaking" ceremony today, which I didn't see because I was in the orphanage during that time.  But I heard the cheering :)

Overall, it was a great day and even though I am missing my family and friends dearly today I am so lucky to have spent it with our son.  God is good.
